Blogs and Queening

Today I treated myself to reading through a handful of Steve Diet Goedde's blog entries. They are delightful! He blogs just like he speaks, with a great, quiet sense of humor, wonderful insights into his eye for photography, and an appreciation for things from the sweeping to the mundane. I highly recommend it. It's especially fun to check out some of the behind-the-scenes shots he includes with some of the gorgeous models.

Speaking of blogs, I also came across Violet Blue's Blog today, and recognized a new model from the Stockroom. Her name is April Flores, aka Fatty D, and she is truly big and beautiful. I found it exciting that we have opened up our women's fetish gear to include a couple pieces for the fuller figure. And I think April Flores is just the gal to show them off. You can find her on the Stockroom website modeling a couple of our new products, the Full Curves Ophelia Corset and the Full Curves Short Victorian Corset.

The Kinkwire Forum has been hopping lately. I am a moderator on this forum, and let me tell you, it's a labor of love. I even learned a new phrase from another forum user, Fever. The practice is called Queening. For those of you who haven't heard of it, it means:

Facesitting, also known as kinging or queening, is a sexual practice in which a sexual partner sits on or over the other partner's face, typically to allow oral-genital or oral-anal contact. It is common for this position to form part of BDSM, involving dominance and submission, though this need not be the case.

What a great name for a fabulous practice! I was so inspired, I wrote a poem:

There once was a gal who loved Queening
That is, she sat on the face
She lifted her skirts with great meaning
And came all over the place!

Human Animal Play

There's been a lot of talk of Animal Farm and zoos and the like after our Stockroom buyer started beefing up our Human Animal kink gear. I loved that cautionary tale about the Animals taking over and the corruption and power struggles and so on. Do you remember the cartoon? So scary. And brutal. And way too close to home. Leave it to George Orwell to scare the bajesus out of me.

Our new Pig Face Hood reminds me of Animal Farm, and Lord of the Flies. Oh yes, it's dark! In that brilliant way. As they say, don't be afraid of the shadow.

I love the ponies. I remember attending BondCon in Vegas a couple of years ago, helping out in a Stockroom booth, and admidst the fetish models tied up in hemp rope spider webs and the Doms doling out whippings was the Pony Parades. My jaw dropped when I saw the fantastical hooved boots and the bells and the tails and the manes. The ponies looked amazing. It was better than the Macy's Day Parade. Oh the pomp! The circumstance!

My favorite book on the subject of ponies is (yes, I'm the gal who often has a book reference! love the books!) is Carrie's Story by the whip smart (pun intended) Molly Weatherfield. Her main heroine, Carrie, is a Berkeley PhD educated gal who discovers her kinky side and is willing to go through horse training.

I'd love to see a Human Animal event on the level of the Westminster Dog Show. I'm not really a natural dog lover, but I am fascinated by this high-stakes competition. Ever since I saw the hilarious movie, Best in Show, I've been hooked. I can just picture the human animal version: the judges lifting the tail and cupping the balls to see if they have been bred well. The owners running them around the track at a dignified gait. I'd buy tickets.

Bettie Page in Living Color

I squealed with joy when I heard that the Bettie Page biopic, The Notorious Bettie Page, is finally coming out!

A few years ago the movie peeps teased me with a chance of viewing such a movie with the lovely Guinevere Turner as the lead. (The intellectual brunette who helps pen the L-Word, appeared and helped write American Psycho, and was the lead in the breakout lesbotronic movie, Go Fish.) Sigh. That project seemed to vanish into thin air.

But the wait is finally over. My favorite kink pin up star is, rumor has it, beautifully and joyfully captured in the film that opens in April. Of course, i've been scanning reviews, and it looks like a general thumbs up.

The voluminous Bettie Page provided me with some of the earliest exposures to kink imagery. I remember being shocked and excited when I saw dear Bettie all tied up and gagged. And of course, that winning smile enchanted me. Her on-camera personality is unparalleled.

Besides waiting with bated breath for the Bettie Movie, I am also looking forward to attending DomCon again on Easter weekend here in L.A. As most of you know, I am not a Dom myself, but I absolutely adore the Doms. I love the power, the style, the independence, and the sensuality they wield. Last year's DomCon was great. There were demos all weekend, a great kink market, and kink fashion for DAYS. Yummy!

I also await the premiere of Sex Ed Superstar Violet Blue's newest book, Fetish Sex: An Erotic Guide for Couples. Violet Blue, as I've blogged about before, is sharp as a tack, sensuous as a siren, and overflowing with helpful and naughty sex education. I think her latest book will be a hit. You can catch her daily writings at fabulous blog, and you'll find all sorts of fancy porn viewing tips at Fleshbot.
